Verizon Wireless gained 1.5 million customers in second quarter of the year

US based mobile service provider Verizon Wireless has said that they managed to add on 1.5 million customers in the second quarter.

They are the second largest mobile service provider in the US market and they managed to match the market expectations with this figure.

The company said that they are now serving more than 68.7 million mobile customers.

Verizon faces intense competition from AT&T which has a huge advantage over them through their deal with Apple enabling them to solely offer the Apple iPhone 3G in the US market.

Apple iPhone 3G has been a major success for both Apple and AT&T.
