Good use of GPS

Google Maps for Nokia N series! A little story before I introduce this software:

Yesterday, after a lot of insistence from my mother, I had to head down to my mother’s cousin’s place; whom I hadn’t seen for seven year due to their hiatus abroad, which ended recently. Anyway to keep things interesting, the place was extremely arcane and I had no idea where to head from home. TECHNOLOGY to the RESCUE. I quickly found the first GPS maps software I could find on Google for my trusty N95 :: simply named Google Maps. Feeding in my end location, it seamlessly guided me through every turn. Yes! reaching this arcane destination was as easy as having a TomTom in your car.

Go ahead and try it yourself:

Oh! and there is a wonderful repository of mobile software on the above site. Please do comment back, if you find other software gems on this site.

This software is an Antitheft and you can use it to track your Windows Mobile device when it was lost or stolen. It works catching a formated SMS sent from any phone and then send useful informations back. These informations can have GPS coordinates, list os contacts, owner informations and more.

You can use it to others objectives, like keep your eye in your child. Use your imagination!

To use all features RemoteTracker has, your device must have GPS and GSM capabilities.

If the thief change your SIM card, you will receive a SMS alerting you and you still can track your device. All you need to do is set an emergency cell number.

RemoteTracker can be added to third part custom ROMs. But, with a hard reset all configurations was lost. Now, RTRegCreate tool can create a configuration file using your PC. ROM cookers can use this DLL to make RT hard reset safe!

This program was tested with Glofish X800 and X500+ with WM6.1 and native .NET 3.5, but you can use it with WM5 or 6. WM2003 and earlier are not supported.

It’s official. After months of speculation, Motorola has finally confirmed two new additions to its MING handset lineup, the A1600 (left) and A1800 (right). Like their predecessor, the A1200, the new smart phones will run on Linux OS and come with a 2.4-inch QVGA touchscreen, Bluetooth, microSD expansion slot and FM radio.

What’s new is the inclusion of the integrated GPS receiver (and image geotagging), as well as the upgraded 3-megapixel camera. Additionally, the A1800 comes with two SIM card slots that allow connection to both GSM and CDMA networks at the same time. Sadly, the new MINGs do not feature Wi-Fi or 3G connectivity, as was rumored earlier.

While both the A1600 and A1800 are targeted at the Chinese market, the former will also be launched in Asia in Q3/Q4 this year. No pricing details have been released so far.
